Since
being in Italy the focus of my work has been more about the
space between and around objects than the objects themselves.
Whether it be the negative space between figures, the leaves
of a fig tree, a bird on a hand, or how colors vibrate next
to each other, these aspects are as interesting as the subject
itself.
As
a painter I respond to color and shape as well as the contrast
between light and dark tones. I enjoy using different mediums
(oil, acrylic, pastel, charcoal) together or independently
and the process of layering and scraping to keep an element
of the unexpected. The greatest inspirations in my work are
nature, literature and music. |
